Tennis has always been my passion. Over the past 30 years, I have accumulated a wealth of experience in playing, teaching and managing tennis operations. I spent many of my formative years overseas and worked with several clubs, serving as Head Coach for SIA Group Sports Club, NTUC Resort & Country Club, Safra Resort & Country Club, and the Mandarin Hotel. Outgoing and affable by nature, I have an excellent ability to interact with students of diverse backgrounds and nationalities. I had extensive experience as a personal trainer for many CEOs and their families and conducts private lessons at many condominium and clubs around Singapore. My students come from a myriad of backgrounds – from 4 year-olds to 60 year-olds, from homemakers to company CEOs. I have no problems forging good rapport with all my students, and built up a loyal client base over the years. I especially enjoy working with junior players, teaching them that tennis can be fun, and that success is not necessarily measured by wins or losses. Putting too much pressure on the players and being overly serious about the game is not the route to go. The learning environment must first be set right. The lessons are designed so that a high percentage of the lesson stresses having fun, because the key is to keeping them playing, and coming back for more. Only when players enjoy themselves will they develop a genuine interest for the game and improve on their game. Teaching sport skills requires knowledge above and beyond playing the sport. And a coach must know not only the techniques and tactics of the sport, but also how the bodies and minds of young people work. I have introduced highly efficient management procedures for various tennis facilities and significantly increase the interest in tennis through, social tennis, ladder tournaments, and numerous other events. I have also attended numerous international tennis workshops and have participated actively in several regional coaching workshops. Today, after 30 years of tennis, my fervour for the game and coaching it burns as strongly as before. Do feel free to contact me if you want me to share my love of the game with you! Acknowledgements I thank the management, members, and all my friends at the tennis clubs I have belonged to or worked at.
